$40 Million Investment in Public Development Transforms Powder Mountain for 2026/27

No matter where you are on the mountain, you can find uncrowded skiing and riding, authentic community, and terrain that pushes boundaries.

New DMI Chairlift

Open glades, narrow chutes, and techy lines of DMI will be lift-accessible next season. The brand new fixed-grip triple will open 1,000+ acres and 2,200 feet of vertical terrain previously accessible only through guided backcountry tours. With more than 25 distinct routes through one of the most extreme areas on the mountain, this eastern zone beneath James Peak rewards the bold.

The Skytrac installation ranks among the steepest lifts the company has ever constructed, a thirlling indication of the type of terrain it serves. The lift will spin as soon as conditions allow for the 2026/27 season.

In February 2026, Powder Mountain hosted one of three NST Super Session qualifiers, alongside Callaghan, British Columbia, and Myōkō, Japan. World-class snowboarders took to our DMI terrain, rewarded for interpreting the natural features with creativity and control.

Upgraded Sundown Lift

This high-speed quad from Leitner-Poma of America will replace our current fixed-grip lift at Sundown, enhancing both day and night ski and ride experiences. The Sundown area is one of our primary base areas and the site of our beloved night skiing and riding. By increasing uphill capacity and cutting lift ride times, your time can be spent exploring the mountain, not waiting in line.

New Sundown Lodge

This summer, we break ground on a 15,000-square-foot lodge at Sundown, set to open for the 2027/28 season. Designed by GSBS Architects out of Salt Lake City, this expanded lodge will serve as the central hub at the mountain base, housing Ski and Snowboard School, equipment rentals, dining amenities, annual lockers, and skier safety services under one roof. This warm, welcoming space supports your adventure from the morning’s first boot up to the last hot chocolate of the night.

New Doodle Chairlift

Every expert was once a beginner. Doodle, our new fixed-grip quad in the Sundown area, offers a dedicated, gentle-pitch learning space. This short lift repurposes infrastructure from the original main chairlift, Sundown, with construction starting this summer. Bring even the youngest members of your family to warm up on Doodle next season; newcomers and those returning to the sport after years away will find a pressure-free zone for their first turns before they move up the mountain.
